No matter how tempted you are, DON'T OVER WASH YOUR FACE!!! Every time you wash your face you remove the buildup of oil, which is your body's signal to produce MORE oil. So the more you wash your face, the more active your oil-producing glands are. So yes, wash in the morning and at night, and if you exercise or something like that, but don't wash all the time just becuase you feel greasy/gross. That actually makes the problem worse! What will I use to prevent and control pimples or blackheads?
this article has some great home treatments for acne that might help you out
Since you're just starting out on meds use non-oil based meds. Use them twice a day. These are the best.
non-prescription
cetaphil
tee tree oil
neutrogena acne wash
logix soap
Prescription
tazorac
minocycline
i know that girls and boys with hair that tends to be oily also have skin problems because the oil gets on the face, and mixes with dust, causing blackheads.Wash hair regularly with the right shampoo.
Doctors say the best is to wash our faces with water only...? So much rubbish in our water these days, and the water is hard, healthy clean water is the best for the face i think too ?
proactiv works really well
If you are in college then you have a health nurse, yes? You might even have a doctor there once in a while. Go see the clinic and ask them your question. See what they say and give it a try, but what you really want is for them to refer you to a dermatologist. He can perscribe the good stuff that you can only get by perscription and you will get well in a hurry. If you got a nurse practitioner there, she may be able to write the perscriptions herself. You are an adult now so decide to take care of your body ....since you are in charge of your health future... and get the best advice from the best people. It might even be free through the clinic?
And get your teeth cleaned if it has been over a year. Ask them for a referal for that too. Those nurses know the campus so go talk to them whenever you have a problem. Enjoy life!!
